How to Repair a Manufactured Toilet Tank
Manufactured toilet tanks, such as those from Eljer or Kohler, attach to the toilet bowl and connect to a cold water supply to refill the tank each time the toilet is flushed. If you notice that there is water under the toilet tank, there might be a leak that needs to be repaired. A manufactured toilet tank can be repaired by first examining the tank to find the source of the leak. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn off the water supply to the tank. Turn the valve for the water supply to the right to close the valve.

Take the lid or top of the tank off and set it aside. Flush the toilet to drain the tank of water.

Locate the nut that is used to secure the water line to the bottom of the toilet tank. Loosen the nut with the adjustable wrench and then turn the nut by hand until it comes off the thread connector.

Pull off the washer or rubber gasket that on the bottom of the tank. Examine the gasket, and see if it looks worn or if there are any cracks. If the gasket is worn or cracked, it will need to be replaced.

Place a new gasket over the thread connector on the bottom of the tank.

Tighten, by hand, the nut on the thread connector. Finish securing the nut with the adjustable wrench.

Turn on the water supply. Turn the valve for the water supply to the left to open the valve.

Wait for the tank to fill with water, and see if there are any leaks coming from the tank.

Tips & Warnings
Use a towel to soak up any remaining water in the bottom of the tank.
Do not overtighten the nut on the thread connector.
