How to Feed a DVR Video Feed to Another Room
A DVR (digital video recorder) allows you to record live content from your television at any time. You can even set it to record shows coming up in the future. Once the recording is done you can watch it at any time you like. However, typically you can only watch the recorded content on a television that is connected to the specific DVR. If you want to view this on a different television in a different room, you have two options available to you: Use a fiber optics DVR provider or run a cable from the DVR into the separate room.
Instructions
-
Fiber Optics
-
1
Contact a television provider that offers fiber optic programming. The fiber optic connection allows you to watch recorded television on any TV connected to the network, no matter which television recorded the information. You can also watch and pause the content on one television and begin watching it on the other TV. Currently the two most prevalent providers of fiber optics is AT&T U-verse and Verizon FIOS.
-
2
Set up an installation time for the fiber optics network. This is going to take several hours because the installer can't use the current cable connection in your home (it is a different service and uses different connections).

3
Power on your television. Select the DVR option and view what stations and programming you have recorded. Select a program that has either been recorded or is being recorded by a DVR in a different room, and it appears on the screen.
Running a Cable
-
4
Detach the cable running from the DVR to your television. Connect the side of the cable that had been connected to the television into the "In" port on a channel splitter. You can find such a device at most electronic stores.
-
5
Attach a second coaxial cable into one of the "Out" ports on the splitter, and plug the other end of the cable into the "In" port on your television.
-
6
Insert the third coaxial cable into the other "Out" port on the splitter and run it into the other room. Once in the other room connect the cable into the "In" port on the television.
-
7
Power on the both televisions and the DVR. You can now access the DVR content in the separate room; however, the room with the DVR controls what is being displayed.
