How to Create TomTom POI Files

Add custom POI files to your TomTom

A TomTom is a personal GPS (Global Positioning System) device that is manufactured by the Dutch company TomTom NV. A POI (Point of Interest) is a symbol on the map that indicates a location that is of particular interest, such as a gas station or restaurant. If you want to create custom POIs, you can do so very easily by accessing the POI manager on the device. Once at the location of a POI you would like to add to the TomTom, navigate through the simple menus of the device and add the new file.

Instructions

1. Turn on your TomTom.

2. Press the "Change Preferences" category from the lower left side of the TomTom's screen.

3. Choose the "Manage Poi's" folder, and then push "Add POI."

4. Select a POI category for your new POI file. For example, if you are at your new favorite gas station and would like to add it as a custom POI, select the "Gas Stations" POI category.

5. Push "GPS Position" to finish creating a custom POI file for your current location.
