The Garmin Nuvi 260 is a mobile GPS unit. It will not only display road directions, but it will find specific locations such as lodging, restaurants, and popular destinations. The Nuvi 260 may require updates for its maps and firmware. In order to update the device you must have a compatible USB cable.

Instructions

1. Go to Garmin's website and download the WebUpdater software. Follow the installation prompts to properly install the software on your system.

2. Open the WebUpdater software on your computer.

3. Plug your Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS device into your computer with a compatible USB cable. The smaller end of the USB cable goes into the back of your device, and the larger end goes in your computer's USB port. (You can purchase a compatible USB cable from the Garmin store.)

4. Follow the onscreen prompts from the WebUpdater software after it has recognized your device.

5. Confirm that you want to update your Garmin Nuvi 260 when prompted. The software will then find the latest updates for your device.
