Spiritual life coaching is similar to regular life coaching with an added spiritual dimension. Since spiritual life impacts many, if not all, aspects of an individual's life, those who are spiritually minded may seek to be coached by someone who will incorporate the important aspects of spirituality to other aspects of life.

Not everyone is equipped to be a spiritual life coach, but those who are can provide a well-rounded coaching experience to their clients.

1. Maintain a vibrant spiritual life. Coaches cannot impart to others what they themselves do not practice, so it is important for spiritual life coaches to be deeply spiritual themselves in order to be effective.

2. Undergo training. Training can take place formally via college courses and online certification programs, or informally, through reading books, participating in online groups and forums, and through trial and error. While it's possible to be a spiritual life coach without formal training or certification, some people feel more comfortable hiring a coach who has credentials.

   Credentials can be obtained through organizations such as the International Coach Federation and the International Coach Academy.

3. Conduct online searches for resources and life coaching certification options. Searching with the keywords, "spiritual life coaching," "faith-based life coaching," and "life coaching certification" will lead to numerous websites that provide helpful information for those who want to become spiritual life coaches.

4. Advertise services. Life coaches won't attract clients unless they get the word out about their services. This can be accomplished by joining an established group of life coaches, putting together a website, getting business cards, and attending networking events.

   Meetup is a great place to find networking events in most cities throughout the United States. Groups are comprised of people from many different professions. Not all members will be interested in receiving spiritual life coaching, but they may be a good source of referrals.

   The Faith to Action Movement is a great place to find information and resources and connect with like-minded spiritual life coaches.

5. Ask for referrals. During the process of building a coaching practice, it is important to get referrals from current clients, friends, associates, and families. It's a good idea to let people know referrals are appreciated.

• It's best for spiritual life coaches to take on clients with a similar spiritual outlook, or at least ones who are open to the coach's view on spirituality or religion.
