How to Plan an Awesome 11th Birthday for a Girl in the Snow

Throw a snow party to remember.

If your daughter's birthday falls around the time of the year when your backyard is covered in snow, throw her a Winter-fest party. For most kids in this age group, there is nothing more fun than playing in the snow with their friends. Although this is an unusual party theme, it is guaranteed to give your daughter and her guests a party that they will remember for years to come. Bundle up your guests and head outside to celebrate your daughter's birthday as well as the snow.

Instructions

1. Select invitations that match the theme of your party. If your daughter's birthday is close to the holidays, send out festive invitations. Select those that have pine trees, ornaments, or just red and green designs on them to put a festive spin on it. If the holidays are long gone, opt for invitations that are blue and white. Popular choices include snowmen, snowflakes, penguins, or ice skates. Consider embellishing store-bought invitations with glitter to make them sparkle and stand out. Make sure that you request that your guests dress warmly for the party since it will be held outdoors.

2. Set a boombox outside in the party area to create the mood of the party. Let your daughter select the songs she wants to play. Depending on her preference, she might want to listen to a fun pop song or basic winter songs such as Frosty the Snowman.

3. Write the names of your guests on small pieces of paper. Put the names in the hat and pull names to decide teams. Instruct the teams to build an "Ultimate Snow Fort" or snowman out of ice and snow. Let the girls have fun throwing snow balls at each other.

4. Let your guests make snow angels and create a snow angel chain in the snow. Fill several squirt bottles with water and food coloring and mix well. Fill each squirt bottle with a different color. Let the girls "paint" their snow angels with the squirt bottles.

5. Set up a light-weight plastic bowling set for a day of snow bowling. Let the guests take turns bowling in the snow.

6. Invite your guests inside for some lunch. Warm the girls up with chicken soup shaped like stars or snowmen, crackers or miniature Parmesan toast. Set out steaming mugs of hot chocolate for your guests to warm them up. Use mugs that are covered with large snowmen or snowflakes. Make this drink a special treat by adding marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or cinnamon.

7. Give the girls party favors to remember this awesome party. Popular choices include cute mittens, funky hats, a miniature snowman or an angel pin.

Tips & Warnings

• Check that the girls are dressed in full complete snow gear to avoid any frostbite incidents. Have a hat, scarf, or mittens just in case someone forgot their own.

• Monitor the length of time the kids are outdoors. Watch for signs of any child that appears to be cold and take her inside to get warm.
