Faded denim jeans can be created at home.

Faded denim used to be something people tried to avoid when washing their jeans and jackets. Now it is a trend that is purposefully created and sold in stores. By using bleach on denim material, faded denim can be mastered at home. It is important to be very careful when handling bleach since it will bleach any material it touches. Instructions

    • 1

Lay your denim on an old towel that you don't mind getting ruined.

    • 2

Put on a pair of protective gloves.

    • 3

Pour a cup of bleach into a bowl.

    • 4

Dip a rag into the bowl of bleach and wring it out.

    • 5

Place the rag onto the denim and press down for a few seconds.

    • 6

Repeat the process all over the denim, re-soaking your rag as needed.

    • 7

Turn the denim over, and apply bleach to the back side.

    • 8

Put the denim into a washing machine and run a full cycle in cold water with laundry detergent. Make sure no other clothes are put in with the denim.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bleach can also be applied to denim by pouring it into a spray bottle and spraying it onto the denim.
