How to Make Cheap Long Distance Phone Calls Using Your Computer

With telephony software, you can make local and long distance phone calls over the Internet. The per-minute charges are usually much lower than what you would pay for a phone call through a telephone company. Telephony software also allow users to make free PC-to-PC calls.

Instructions

1. Choose a telephony software provider and download and install a telephony program. Some of these programs include iCall, PC-Telephone and Skype.

2. Register for an account. Enter your name, email address and other contact information.

3. Set up billing. Many providers will give you the options of placing credit in your account to pay for calls as you make them or paying one flat fee per month. Select the best option for you and provide your payment details.

4. Make the call. Follow the manufacturer's directions to select the country for the number you wish to call and type the phone number.
