How to Convert Ethernet to Phone
Most new houses have built-in Ethernet ports in the walls. These ports are similar to phone ports, however the connection is slightly wider. If you are in an older home and your house has no Ethernet connection ports, you can actually convert the Ethernet cable you want to use with your DSL connection to a phone line. This acts just like a standard Ethernet connection and it does not tangle up the phone line while you are surfing the Web.

1
Insert the phone line side of your Ethernet to phone adapter into the wall phone port. You can purchase these adapters at most electronic stores for a few dollars each. Some Internet providers give the adapters out for free when first installing the Internet.
-
2
Attach the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet side of the adapter. The cable clicks into place, just like a standard Ethernet port.

-
3
Attach the opposite end of the Ethernet cable into whatever device you are hooking up (such as a DSL modem, router or hub).
