How to Troubleshoot Code 10 on the DVD-ROM of a Laptop

Click the "Start" button on the desktop, then select "Control Panel." In the Control Panel window double-click "System" and click the "Hardware" tab.

Select "Device Manager" and look for the DVD-ROM device.

Right-click the DVD-ROM icon and select "Uninstall." This removes the controllers for the DVD-ROM.

Restart the computer. Once the computer restarts it automatically installs the controllers for the DVD-ROM. This corrects the Error Code 10 issue.
