How to Drape a Swag Curtain
Swags are a popular addition to any window treatment. They add a finished, professional and modern look to a room. Swags can be used with blinds or with curtains--or even on their own. Some swags are light and airy, while others are pleated and formal. Swags can be made from any type of fabric and can incorporate any decorating style. Most swags are draped from curtain rods or hooks and can look professional even when done yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Determine on which window you will hang the swag. At one end of the curtain rod, hang one end of the swag over the end of the rod. The loose end of the swag should hang behind the rod. Adjust the loose end to the desired length and secure the swag to the rod with a clothespin.

2
At the other end of the curtain rod, hang the other end of the swag over the rod the same way as in Step 1. Adjust the loose end of the swag to the desired length and secure the swag to the rod with a clothespin.
For an alternate look, loosely wrap the swag around the curtain rod several times. Use clothespins to hold the swag in place while you are adjusting the fabric.

3
Adjust the swag that is hanging across the curtain rod by smoothing out any wrinkles or creases. If the fabric lies in pleats, make sure the pleats are smooth and even.
-
4
Carefully remove the clothespins. If the swag slips or falls off the curtain rod, use the clothespins to attach the swag to the rod from the inside of the material so that the clothespins are hidden.
