Clean a Commercial Oven

A commercial oven is one of the most difficult appliances to clean. Since it heats up when cooking food, it naturally bakes on any spilled and splattered liquids. The best way to keep your cleaning to a minimum is to lightly clean the inside of the oven after every use. More intense cleaning should be done at least once a week. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Take the oven racks out of the oven once it has cooled down. Be sure to use your oven mitts in case the racks still contain heat. Fill a sink with hot water and dish detergent and set the racks in it to soak.

    • 2

Fill an empty, clean spray bottle with hot water and 3 overflowing teaspoons of baking soda. Secure the top tightly, then shake the bottle until the baking soda mostly dissolves into the water.

    • 3

Add a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture. The acidity of lemon juice helps break down hardened splatters on the oven walls and adds a fresh scent to the solution.

    • 4

Spray the mixture onto the inside oven walls, and allow it to stand for 10 minutes. Wipe it off with a damp cloth or damp soft sponge.

    • 5

Scrub the buildup off of the soaking oven racks with a sponge using the rough side of the sponge.

    • 6

Remove any remaining buildup on the soaking racks, then rinse them, dry them and place them back in the oven.
