How to Change a 2007 Honda Civic Engine Air Filter

One of the easier and feel good things to do when it comes to routine car maintenance is to change the engine air filter on your 2007 Honda Civic, as virtually anyone can do it. Dirty air filters not only rob performance form your engine, but they also will slowly degrade your fuel mileage as they fill up with dirt and debris from everyday driving.

Things You'll Need

• Phillips head screwdriver or 10mm wrench
• Air filter

Instructions

1. Pop the hood by pulling the inside hood release handle. Use the hood brace under the hood to hold it up.

2. Locate the air filter box. It will be black, positioned off to the side of the engine, and will roughly conform to the shape of the brand new filter.

3. Unsnap the metal holding clips along the sides.

4. Locate the 10mm holding bolts also on the sides. These need to be unscrewed using either a Phillips screwdriver or a standard 10mm wrench. Turn them in a counterclockwise rotation. They will remain embedded in the plastic cover, but will loosen enough so that the cover can be removed.

5. Pull out the old filter and push in the new one so that it seats firmly.

6. Replace the cover and tighten down the screws. Snap the clips back into place along the sides and close the hood.
