Instructions

    • 1

Remove damaged petals, thorns and excess foliage with a stem stripper (available at your local garden supply store).

    • 2

Soak fresh flowers in a preserving solution for several hours before you plan to work with them.

    • 3

Take one stem with one hand and place it in your other, and add stems, one by one, to that hand until you get to four.

    • 4

Arrange the four stems into a square pattern (a flower pair above a flower pair).

    • 5

Add more stems, one at a time, to the bouquet. Keep these a little lower than the square of four stems. Keep adding until it looks like a dome.

    • 6

Wrap floral wire in a spiral down the length of the stems. Start at the top and keep the wire loose. Be sure to stop at least 1 inch from the bottom of the stems. Floral wire helps support weak stems.

    • 7

Cut the wire, and wrap floral tape around the top of the stems as close to the top as you can. Keep it secure.

    • 8

Keep wrapping the floral tape in a spiral motion down the length of the stems. Keep it tight to avoid any wrinkles or exposed wire.

    • 9

Cut a piece of ribbon so that it is approximately three times longer than the stems.

    • 10

Tuck the end of the ribbon inside the floral tape at the top of the stems, and wrap the ribbon in a spiral motion down the length of the stems.

    • 11

Secure the ribbon with hot glue when you reach 1 inch from the bottom of the stems.

    • 12

Tuck the ribbon under the bottom of the stems and begin to wrap the tape upward on top of the previous spiral.

    • 13

Secure the floral tape at the top of the stems with a hot glue gun.

    • 14

Wrap a separate piece of ribbon around the top of the stems and tie into a bow.

Tips & Warnings

  • When arranging the flowers, try standing in front of a mirror and holding the bouquet as you would if you were in a bridal party. This will help you see the bouquet from the onlookers' perspective.
