Thin walled stainless steel pipe is harder to cut than copper and aluminum tubing, but you can still cut the stainless steel pipe with tubing tools. There are tubing tools, specifically tubing cutters, that are designed to cut stainless steel pipe and stainless steel tubing. If you already own a tubing cutter that the stainless steel pipe will fit into, you need to change one component to use your tubing cutter to square cut the end of the stainless steel pipe. Refer to the tubing cutter owner's manual to determine the correct way to remove the cutting wheel from the tubing cutter.

Remove the cutting wheel from the tubing cutter, and install the stainless steel cutting wheel into the tubing cutter by reversing the removal instructions for the old cutting wheel.

Turn the handle of the tubing cutter counterclockwise to open the jaws of the tubing cutter. Place the stainless steel pipe in between the bottom rollers and the stainless steel cutting wheel of the tubing cutter, and close the jaws of the tubing cutter with the tubing cutter handle. Stop tightening the handle when the stainless steel cutting wheel rests lightly on the surface of the stainless steel pipe.

Make two revolutions around the stainless steel pipe with the tubing, and turn the handle of the tubing cutter 1/2 turn. Make two more revolutions around the stainless steel pipe with the tubing cutter. Repeat the process until the tubing cutter cuts through the stainless steel pipe.
