Copying and pasting from a website takes just a few keystrokes.

There are many reasons to want to archive information on a website. Copy and pasting the information is fairly easy to do as long as you have a place to put the information. You will need a text editor or word processor to paste the text of the web page into to save the information. You can also paste the images into a word processor or image editing software. However, be aware that the text and images are copyrighted by the website owner. You can not reuse the text and information without the owner's permission.

Instructions

  1. Selecting the Text

      Press "Ctrl A" on your keyboard. This will select all the text in the web page.

      Press "Ctrl C" on your keyboard to copy the text.

      Open your text editor or word processor. Press "Ctrl V" on your keyboard to paste the text into the text editor or word processor.

    Copying and Pasting Images

      Right-click on the image you want to copy. Choose "View Image." The image will appear on its own in the browser.

      Right-click on the image and choose "Copy Image."

      Open your word processor or image editor. Create a new document. Right-click on the document and choose "Paste."

Tips & Warnings

  • Although you can copy an image into a word processor, it is better to put an image in an image editor so you can save it in an image format. You cannot edit an image once it is saved in a word processor file.

  • The same functions can performed on a Mac. Just substitute the Cmd key for the Ctrl key on your keyboard.

  • The text and images on a website are copyrighted by the website owner unless otherwise noted. Do not copy and paste text and images without the owner's approval.
