How to Restore Display Property Tabs
The missing tabs in the Display Properties dialog box may be due to malware that might have caused incorrect settings in the registry. The display settings tabs may be missing or may appear "disabled." It is easy to change the registry setting manually to restore the display settings tabs.
Instructions
-
-
1
Click the "Start" button and click "Run" from the Start menu.
-
2
Type "regedit" in the "Open" box in the Run window and click "OK." This opens a separate "Registry Editor" window.
-
-
3
Follow the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" to go to the "System" folder. For Windows XP and higher, it is the "Explorer" folder instead of the "System" folder.
-
4
Look at the entries in the window for all or some of the following entries. "NoDispCPL," "NoDispBackgroundPage," "NoDispScrSavPage," "NoDispAppearancePage" and "NoDispSettingsPage." The entries will have a value set next to it and it should be "0." If it has "1," then it indicates that the corresponding tab under the display properties is hidden.
-
5
Double-click on the entry that has a value set to "1." It opens the "Edit DWORD Value" dialog box. Under the "Value Data" box delete the number, type "0" and click "OK". Make sure that all the entries are set to "0." Close the Registry Editor.
-
6
Right-click on the desktop and select "Properties." The tabs will now appear on the Display Properties window.
