How to Post A Link On Twitter

Twitter allows you to put links in your tweets and direct messages. The problem when posting a link on Twitter is that the link is long and the tweet exceeds the 140 character limit. Shorten your link and post it on Twitter.

Instructions

    • 1

      Locate the link that you want to tweet out.

    • 2

      Copy the link by highlighting it, right-clicking it and selecting copy.

    • 3

      Go to the website bit.ly and paste the URL you copied into the text box and click "Shorten."

    • 4

      Click "Ctrl" and "C" to copy the link.

    • 5

      Go back to Twitter and paste your link into the tweet box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some Twitter users put links in every message which makes them look like spammers. When you do put links in your tweets, don't put them in every tweet. Twitter will take note and you could possibly lose your account.
