How to Clean a LaserJet 1022
Small laser printers like the HP LaserJet 1022 have a number of advantages over traditional inkjet printers, including faster printing and higher print quality. These small laser printers can also be quite reliable, providing they are cleaned and maintained properly. Cleaning your LaserJet 1022 regularly will help you avoid problems with print quality while making the most of expensive consumables like toner cartridges and paper.

1
Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord. Allow the printer to cool for 15-20 minutes before working on it, because the components inside the HP LaserJet 1022 can become quite hot.
-
2
Lift the top cover of the LaserJet 1022 and locate the toner cartridge. Grasp the toner cartridge by the handle and pull it out of the printer. Check the the cartridge to make sure no toner is leaking--if the cartridge is leaking it should be replaced.

-
3
Vacuum the interior of the printer thoroughly. A handheld vacuum cleaner like the kind used to clean computers and keyboards works very well.
-
4
Clean the interior of the printer with a soft cloth to remove any remaining paper dust and toner residue. Dust and dirt can build up under the toner cartridge and cause issues with print quality.
-
5
Replace the toner cartridge and close the top cover of the printer. Reinsert the power cord, plug in the LaserJet 1022 and send a test page to the printer.
