How to Save Money on Tuxedo Rental

Looking good in a tuxedo doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

Whether you are renting a tuxedo for a big event like a wedding or prom or just for a night out on the town, you can save money on the rental. There are a number of ways to reduce the cost of your tuxedo rental. With rentals that can go up to a few hundred dollars per tuxedo for one night, saving even a few dollars can be very helpful.

Instructions

1. Rent multiple tuxedos at once to get a potential discount. For example, you may find specially-priced wedding tuxedos offered and in many cases the groom's tuxedo is provided free.

2. Choose a basic tuxedo. These basics may be single breasted instead of double breasted, may lack a vest or cummerbund, or be a non-name brand clothing maker. The basic "classic" tuxedos such as these often cost less.

3. Turn down any "extras," such as shoes with socks, cufflinks, ties, pocket handkerchiefs and other accents. Sometimes tuxedo rental locations may try to "upsell" you on extras such as flasks, extra cuff links or a fancier shirt. Keep in mind that some of these items may come complimentary so check the base price to see what is included.

4. Take care of your rental. Avoid spills or damage done to the tuxedo. Return the tuxedo promptly the day after the event to avoid late fees.
