Composite decking is a popular material for outside flooring.

Verandas are large, open porches, usually roofed and enclosed by a railing, and often extending across the front and sides of a house. Composite decking is eco-friendly porch and deck flooring made of discarded plastics, compressed wood scraps and by-products such as sawdust. Composite decking must be properly taken care of to avoid having to replace the decking prematurely. You need to use a composite decking cleaner each time you clean your decking. Things You'll Need

  • Broom
  • Composite deck cleaner
  • Scrub brush with handle extension
  • Garden hose

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove all furniture and other items off of the veranda.

    • 2

      Sweep the veranda with the broom, removing all dirt, leaves and debris.

    • 3

      Mix the composite deck cleaner with water if the label directions specify it, or use it at full strength if the label recommends it. Dip the scrub brush into the solution and scrub the composite decking.

    • 4

      Rinse off the deck with the garden hose. Let dry.

    • 5

      Replace furniture and other items.

  • Composite deck cleaner can be purchased online or at any home improvement supply store. Check the label for mixing instructions. Some composite deck cleaners do not require dilution and some do.
