When you use your Windows computer and want to secure it for a short amount of time, you can "lock" the operating system. This prevents anyone from logging in to the computer unless they know your password. If you want to lock your computer, there are a few ways you can do it.

      Press the Windows logo key on your keyboard and then press the "L" key at the same time to lock the machine. This only works if you have a keyboard with the Windows logo on it. While most modern keyboards have this logo, older model keyboards might not.

      Press "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" at the same time and then choose the "Lock Computer" option.

      Click "Start," "Run," type "cmd" and then press "Enter." At the command prompt, type "rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation" to lock the machine.
