The Easiest Way to Wall Mount a Plasma TV
The appeal of plasma televisions lie in their form. The ability to hang a television on a wall, freeing up floor space and emphasizing the slim aesthetic of the set, make the idea of stand-mounting the TV seem improper. With simple tools and the proper hardware, wall-mounting a plasma can be done in a few hours.
Things You'll Need
- Flat panel wall mount
- Drill
- 3/4-inch drill bit
- Socket wrench with inserts
- 2-inch lag bolts
- 2-inch lag bolt washers
- Helper
- Level
- Screwdrivers (Philips, Allen, flat head)
Instructions

1
Determine the necessary height for the wall mount. Use a pencil or drill bit tip to mark the bolt locations, using the wall mount portion of the bracket as a template.
-
2
Drill the marked locations, using a drill and 3/4-inch bit. Ensure that two studs are hit with the drill bit.

-
3
Attach the bolts using a socket wrench and appropriate inserts through the bracket into the drilled holes. Ensure that washers are installed on the lag bolts prior to installation. Do not overtighten.
-
4
Locate the screw holes on the rear of the plasma, designed to accept appropriate screws from the TV side of the wall mount. Use the appropriate screwdriver to insert these screws, again taking caution not to overtighten.
-
5
Ask a helper to lift the television onto the wall mount. Adjust the level using adjustment screws on the rear of the TV side of the bracket.

Tips & Warnings
For the sleekest appearance, hide cables behind the wall or by using a channel molding kit.
Have an assistant stand back and observe while leveling adjustments are made.
Never mount any television with less than four bolts.
Always ensure that studs are the reinforcement points; never use butterfly bolts or plastic screw anchors to secure the wall mount.
