Popular with enthusiasts and recreational cyclists alike, cycle computers have eliminated much of the mathematical guesswork from cycling. The Schwinn cycle computer alone features 12 different functions, including a speedometer. Before the speedometer and other functions can display accurate information, the computer will first need to be calibrated.

Instructions

    • 1

      Press and hold the left and right buttons simultaneously for two seconds. There are just two buttons on the Schwinn cycle computer. The computer will now register "Wheel Size Input Mode."

      Multiply the diameter of either of your wheels in millimeters by 3.1416. The diameter of your wheel should be stamped on the side of your tire. If measuring your wheel, make sure the tire is fully inflated, then measure from one end of the tire to another. Convert any measurements to millimeters.

      Press the left button to select the digit for input.

      Press the right button to adjust the digit to the desired number. Holding the right button will cause the digit to advance rapidly.

      Press the left button to activate the "Km/Mile" function.

      Press the right button to choose between kilometer and mile.

    • 7

      Press the left button to confirm. The computer will now automatically switch to speedometer mode. Your speedometer and other functions will now display accurate readings.
