Homemade Pot Scrubbers
Pot scrubbers come in handy when you need to scrub off that last bit of burnt on food. Rather than buying ready made pot scrubbers, make your own. There are a multitude of ways to make pot scrubbers. They can be crocheted, knitted or even hand sewn. Sewing is one of the simpler ways to make pot scrubbers and requires no special skills. Look for most supplies for this project at your local fabric store or craft center.
Things You'll Need
- 1/2 yard of 72-inch nylon netting
- Scissors
- Heavy duty nylon thread or dental floss
- Large sewing needle
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay the nylon netting on a flat surface. Cut the nylon into three 6 inch by 72 inch sections.
-
2
On the same flat surface, lay the pieces of netting, one on top of the other, to form layers. Thread the sewing needle with nylon thread or dental floss.
-
-
3
Sew down the middle of the netting lengthwise. Use long stitches to hold the netting together. Leave about two inches of thread hanging from either end of the netting.
-
4
Tie the thread on one end of the netting to form a knot. Grasp this end with one hand. Grasp the hanging thread on the other end of the netting and pull toward you, scrunching the netting as you go along. This action of scrunching the netting will form a ball shape.
-
5
Wrap the thread that you have been pulling around the ball to secure. Knot tightly and secure the ends with knots as well.
-
6
Place the ball in your hands and pull apart the layers of netting with your fingers to fluff.
