How to Connect Speakers to a DJ System
Basic DJ equipment typically consists of at least two source components, such as CD players and turntables, a mixing board to fade between the sources, speakers to drive the sound and an amplifier to drive the speakers. Connecting the speakers to a DJ system requires a set of speaker cables for each loudspeaker to hook up to the amp. Use a standard set of RCA-type audio cables with color-coded plugs to connect the mixer with the amp.
Things You'll Need
- Speaker cables
- Wire strippers
- Amplifier
- RCA-type audio cables
- Mixing board
Instructions
-

1
Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off both ends of each speaker cable.
-
2
Connect the red speaker wire to the positive terminal on the back of each speaker by lifting the red plastic clip on the terminal to reveal a hole for inserting the wire. The other wire connects to the black terminal.

Tips & Warnings
If the amplifier is equipped with a selector control for choosing different components connected to it, set the selector to the set of jacks connected to the mixing board.
Unplug the amplifier from the power while hooking up the speaker cables to prevent damage to the audio equipment.
