1
Choose a light shade when painting a nursery. Red and black are good accessory colors for a ladybug theme but can be a bit harsh as wall colors in a baby's room. Paint the walls a light sage, pink, yellow or cream and accent with a ladybug wallpaper or stenciled border.

2
Purchase ladybug-print curtains or make your own red curtains with black polka dots. Cut round dots from black felt. Spread a red curtain panel out on a table so that it is laying flat. Choose a lightweight fabric to help keep a light and airy effect, which is preferable for a nursery. Use a fabric marker to make small marks where you would like the black dots to be. Heat a glue gun and dab a small amount of glue to the center of a felt polka dot. Then squeeze the trigger slowly to apply a circle of glue about 1/4 inch from the edges of each dot. Attach the felt spots to the marked places. Allow to dry and hang on curtain rods.

Buy a ladybug stencil template from a craft supply store or use freehand technique to paint ladybugs on walls, dressers, bookcases and closet doors. Purchase ladybug wall stickers to use instead of paint. Visit the bookstore for ladybug children's books to place in the bookcases.

Pick up a child-size, round, ready-to-finish table and chair set from a craft store. Sand the furniture and then wipe down to remove any debris. Paint a coat of primer and allow it to dry. Paint a coat of red latex and let dry. Repeat until you have the desired shade. Cut a sponge into circle shapes. Once red paint is completely dry, use the round sponge to dab black paint spots on the furniture.

Purchase a white wicker, vertical hamper with lid. Take it outside and spray paint it red. Allow to dry. Create a dot template by cutting a circle out of the middle of a piece of cardboard or heavy stock paper. Hold the cardboard up against the hamper in several places and spray black paint in the hole. Paint eyes on the lid. Allow to dry. Use for laundry or toy storage.

Accessorize with items that can be found online or in department stores. Purchase wooden or organza ladybugs, ladybug shelves, area rug, mirrors, lampshade, picture frames, outlet covers and bedding. Place baby pictures in the ladybug frames and place on shelves.
