Granite is a natural stone, and therefore will have veins, pits, pores and fissures on its surface. However, if a fissure is large or becoming a trap for debris, it is possible to fill it with a granite repair kit, although the seam may always be there. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply stone cleaner directly to the area of the fissure and buff it well using a lint-free cloth before rinsing with clean water. Allow the stone to dry completely.
-
2
Apply masking tape to the granite counter on either side of the fissure, as close to the crack as possible. This will help keep the resin that will fill the fissure where it belongs and make clean-up easier.

3
Mix the resin in the repair kit according to the directions. Apply the resin directly to the fissure using the wooden tool provided with the kit. Press down on the granite and drag the resin toward you, packing it into the fissure. If the fissure is deep, allow the resin to settle and apply a second layer.
-
4
Scrape a razor blade over the top of the fissure to remove excess resin and create a flush repair with the top of the counter. Allow the resin to harden for 24 hours, then scrape again to ensure no residue remains.
-
5
Seal the granite counter with an impregnating sealer by painting the counter with a foam paintbrush to distribute the sealer evenly. Wipe up any excess with a lint-free cloth.
