Choosing the Gifts and Basket
Step1
Select from the following: gardening magazines; flower seeds; vegetable seeds; herb seeds; videos on garden design; specialized gardening books; gardening gloves; a hand tool set; and assorted bulbs, including tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, anemones, daffodils, irises, bearded irises and lilies.
Step2
Choose a basket with a single handle. It will be perfect for carrying flowers, vegetables or herbs from the garden into the kitchen. Make certain the basket is large enough to hold the gifts you have selected.
Step3
Choose a basket color that complements the gardener's kitchen decor. If in doubt, select a natural wicker basket, which is neutral in color.
Step4
Use shredded paper filling so that the gifts fit snugly in the basket.
Step5
Buy a flower-filled greeting card.
Packing the Basket
Step1
Wrap each present with a flower-themed gift wrap.
Step2
Put a layer of shredded paper filling in the bottom of the basket.
Step3
Place the wrapped gifts vertically or horizontally in the basket, as space allows, pushing the filling between gifts to ensure a very snug fit. Cover some of the gifts completely with the filling, to create mini-surprises when the basket is unpacked.
Step4
Place the basket in the center of a large piece of clear or tinted cellophane gift wrap. You may need two pieces of the wrap to completely cover a large basket.
Step5
Bring all sides of the wrap to a few inches above the top of the basket. Secure the wrap by tying it with a long, colorful ribbon.
Step6
Tape your greeting card to the wrap.
