Instructions

  1. Removing the Door Panel

    • 1

Open the window of your Camry so you don't bump it when you take off the door panel.

    • 2

Unhook the negative (black) battery cable. Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the cable in place. Lift the cable and move it as far away as you can from the battery.

    • 3

Unclip the triangular-shaped panel on the upper right corner of the door panel. Pry off the cover on the screw underneath the panel with a flat screwdriver. Then take out the screw behind it and the two screws along the bottom edge of the door panel with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 4

Pop off the circular plastic cover on the armrest with a flat screwdriver. Remove the screw underneath it and the two screws on the underside of the armrest with the screwdriver.

    • 5

Remove the screw near the front of the door panel and the two screws along the bottom of the panel.

    • 6

Open the inside door handle and pry off the cover on the screw behind the handle. Then remove that screw.

    • 7

Remove the four clips that secure the control panel for the power window. Pull up and out to remove the panel.

    • 8

Wrap your hands around the bottom edge of each side of the door. Push up, then pull out the door panel. Set the door aside where it will be safe.

    Replace the Door Panel

    • 9

Ask a friend to hold the door panel in position against the door. Line up the clips that hold the door in place. Ask your friend to push the panel in against the door while you attach the clips to hold the door in place.

    • 10

Follow Steps 1 through 7 from Section 1 in reverse order to reattach all the screws that hold the door panel.

    • 11

      Reconnect your car's battery.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your Toyota service manual tells you to use a special tool to remove some of the screws, but a regular flat screwdriver does the job just fine.

  • Handle all door clips and plastic parts with care as they can break easily.
