The Canon EOS D60 is a SLR camera designed for use by professional photographers and hobbyists of advanced skill. The D60's features include a 6.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, a 1.8-inch LCD display, three-point autofocus, support for video output and the ability to capture images at the rate of three frames per second. If you encounter problems while using your Canon EOS D60, you may be able to remedy the issue by following a few troubleshooting procedures.

Instructions

  1. Image Quality

    • 1

Examine the side of the camera's lens and locate the focus mode switch. Move the switch to the setting labeled "AF."

    • 2

Examine the mode dial, located on top of the camera, opposite the shutter button. Turn the mode dial to a setting appropriate for the type of picture you plan to take (starting with the icon of a head in profile and going clockwise, the available settings are: portrait, landscape, close-up, sports and night portrait).

    • 3

Press the "MENU" button, then turn the navigation dial (located on the rear of the camera) to select to the option labeled "Quality" and press the "SET" button. Turn the dial again to select a higher-quality setting and press "SET" to confirm your selection.

    • 4

Turn the dial to select the option labeled "ISO Speed" and press "SET." If you are taking pictures in dim light, raise the ISO speed. Otherwise, lower the ISO speed. Press the "MENU" button to close the menu screen.

    CF Card

    • 5

Open the CF card cover, located on the side of the camera. Push the eject button and remove the installed card. Reinsert the card and push it into the camera until the eject button pops out. Close the CF card cover and slide it back to the locked position.

    • 6

Press the "MENU" button and turn the navigation dial to select the option labeled "Format." Press the "SET" button (this will erase all the images currently stored on the CF card).

    • 7

Turn the navigation dial to the option labeled "OK." Press the "SET" button and wait for the camera to finish formatting the CF card before performing any other activities.

    Video Playback

    • 8

Examine the video out ports, located on the side of the camera. Confirm that your video cable is properly connected to the port labeled "VIDEO OUT." Trace the length of the video cable back to your television and check the cable for damage. Confirm that the video cable connects to the correct port on your television.

    • 9

Confirm that the camera's power switch is set to the "ON" position. Press the playback button (located near the lower-left corner of the camera's LCD display) to confirm that playback mode is active.

    • 10

Press the "MENU" button and use the navigation dial to select the option labeled "Video system." Press the "SET" button and select the setting that corresponds to your television. Press "SET" to confirm your selection, then press "MENU" to leave the menu screen.
