Funny Homemade Christmas Cards
Anyone can walk into a stationary or gift store and walk out with a box of Christmas cards, but it takes someone special to make their own. The amount of money you spend on prepared cards might not seem like a lot, but it quickly rises when you factor in the number of cards needed and the number of years you buy them. Making funny homemade Christmas cards not only saves you money, but also gives you something special to send your loved ones.

1
Lay out a piece of poster board and place an envelope on the top; this serves as your template for creating the cards. Follow the edges of the envelope with your pencil. Cut your cards out, but make your cuts a little smaller than you marked to give you enough space to put the cards in a standard envelope. If you're lines aren't perfectly straight, it just adds charm and character.

Create some cute holiday sayings and funny phrases on your computer, or even come up with a funny poem about Christmas. Print off as many of the sayings as you need for your cards. Fold each of your cards in half. Then, cut the phrases from the paper and glue them to the inside of the cards.

Place the stencils on your paper and trace around the outside with a pencil. Be creative about the type of paper you use by looking for wallpaper samples, scrapbooking paper and even old Christmas wrapping paper. Using a picture with a holiday theme from a magazine is also cute. Cut the decorations from the paper.

Follow the edge of the paper with your hole punch, making cuts less than 1 inch apart. This works best with designs that aren't too complicated, such as a snowman or Christmas tree. If using a Christmas tree, use the hole punch to cut out a few spots inside the tree, instead of on the edges. This gives the look of ornaments when the card shows through.

Run a piece of ribbon through the edges of the picture, following through the holes. When you reach the end, trim the edges and apply a small amount of glue to hold the ribbon in place. Glue the pieces to the front of each card and let dry before sending.
