Swimming flippers (sometimes referred to as swimming fins) are attachments that slip over your feet, enabling your to swim farther faster. People wear fins for snorkeling and diving. Learning to swim with flippers is easy, but it may take some time to master the basic techniques. Swimming flippers come in a variety of shapes and colors and are perfect for improving your kick speed, leg strengthening, ankle flexibility and exercise. Swimming flippers can be used on the surface or underwater.

      Place the flippers on your feet and jump into the water.

      Lie flat on your stomach (floating) and keep your legs underwater. It is easiest to swim with flippers if your entire body is straight and underwater.

    • 3

      Keep your legs straight and your knees relaxed while kicking up and down alternately (right then left, right then left, etc.). This will propel you forward. There is no need to swim with your arms as your legs and flippers will do all the work for you.
