How Can You Get the New Mail Notification to Be in the System Tray for Outlook 2007?
Outlook 2007 has two types of new mail notifications that can appear in the system tray when a new message is received. One of these pops a small bubble up with a preview of the message's contents, while the other places an envelope-shaped icon in the system tray that remains until the new message is read. Together, these new mail notifications make it unnecessary to continually check the Outlook window to see if you have new mail. Enable the system tray notification for new messages in Outlook 2007 to put a reminder on the screen when new messages are received.

Run the Outlook 2007 program.

Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen, then click "Options."

Click the "E-mail Options" button.

Click the "Advanced E-mail Options" button.

Place a check in the box labeled "Show an envelope icon in the notification area" to have an envelope icon appear in the system tray when new messages are received. This icon stays in the system tray until the new message is read.

Place a check in the box labeled "Display a New Mail Desktop Alert" to have a bubble appear briefly showing the contents of new messages when they are received.
