How to Seed With a uTorrent

Torrent programs such as uTorrent allow you to share videos, music, software and other downloadable media with friends and other users of the p2p client. When downloading torrents and using a torrent program, you either seed or leach the file. Leaching files means you download files but are not sharing them on your uTorrent client. Seeding files on your uTorrent client is just as easy as leaching.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a file of your choosing via any torrent website, and download the file. uTorrent automatically opens when a file is downloaded.

    • 2

Allow the file to download completely, whether it needs an hour or a week to do so.

    • 3

Look to the right of the downloaded file. Right next to the file name it should either say seeding, or stopped. If it says that it is seeding, nothing more is needed to be done.

    • 4

Highlight and right-click the torrent file, if it isn't seeding.

    • 5

Select the seed option from the drop-down list.

Tips & Warnings

  • Illegally downloading software, movies and music is illegal. Only use uTorrent with friends and family members to share files that are legal.
