Filing the paperwork to start a limited liability company (LLC) in Michigan is an important process for all aspiring business owners looking to establish a business identity that is separate from their personal finances. Michigan Business One Stop Setup
-
1
Go to the Michigan Business One Stop website and select the "Log In and Do Business" link. You must fill out an application to join the site, but do not worry, as you do not need any of the specifics of your business at this time.
-
2
Enter your business information. After a few business hours, the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth will email your login credentials for the One Stop website. When you receive the email, click the link to activate your account. Click the "Start/Add a Business" tab, and begin filling out the information. You will need to know if your LLC is a single or multi-member organization, and you also need to pick out your business name. Before finalizing the name selection, you will be allowed to search the state's database to confirm that the name is available.

Enter "Your Workspace." After the initial questionnaire is completed, you will be redirected to a page called the Workspace. This page lists all requirements for starting your LLC in Michigan. Some forms must be printed, but much of the paperwork can be submitted online.
