Instructions

Connect your PSP to a wireless network by going to "Network Settings" on the far left drop-down menu on the main screen and following the connection instructions as they appear. Your PSP will show available wireless networks, secured and unsecured, so make sure you have the encryption key or password on hand for the network you want.

Once you have established connection to a wireless Internet access point, you can connect to the PlayStation Store, an online market of game demos, movies and PSP menu screen themes ready for download. Scroll to the "PlayStation Network" option on the far right of your PSP menu and click the icon for the PlayStation store.

Follow the onscreen steps as the PlayStation network guides you through the registration process. You will create a user name and password, and will need to provide contact information as well as a valid email address. If you plan on purchasing games and other media, you will need a valid credit card to complete your account setup.

Now that you're registered with the PlayStation Store, you can log in to your account and browse titles of PSP games, movies and downloadable themes for your console. You can even peruse a healthy selection of original PSOne games that are only available on the PlayStation Network. If you feel like trying before you buy, a vast array of playable demos and game videos are available under the "DEMOS" menu.

Select the demo, game, video or theme you wish to download and click on "Buy Now" (or "Download" if you're looking at a free demo). The PlayStation Store will ask you to confirm if you would like to transfer funds to your online "wallet" from your credit card. After confirming, you will see a download progress screen that will tell you the percentage complete as well as the time remaining for the download.

After your stuff downloads, it will be on your Memory Stick Duo, available to play or view by selecting the appropriate menu option (e.g. "Game," "Video") and clicking on "Memory Stick." Click the title of your game, video or theme.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the "WLAN" switch, located at the top left of your PSP, is switched to ON before you connect to a wireless network.

  • If you lose your Memory Card Duo, the PlayStation Store allows you to conveniently re-download anything you have previously downloaded---do so under the "Account Management" menu.

  • You can also transfer media files, including pictures from PC to PSP, by using the PSP USB cable that comes with a new console and can be purchased separately wherever PSP products are sold.
