Many cable providers also offer an Internet package at the same time. Although the speed is typically the same as a standard DSL Internet connection, the signal does not enter your house with an Ethernet cable. Instead, you use an actual coaxial cable, the same cable used to import the television programming to your TV. Although the cable technician usually sets up your connection after installing the cable, you may want to know how to work the TV cable with your DSL Internet if the cable ever should become disconnected.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the coaxial cable into the wall port. The cable screws into place, so make sure you screw the cable on completely to secure the connection.

    • 2

Attach the other end of the coaxial cable into the "In" port on the back of your DSL Internet modem. Like with the wall port, make sure to screw on the cable completely.

    • 3

Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the "Out" ports on the modem, then insert the opposite end of the DSL cable into the "WAN" port on your computer.

    • 4

Power on the cable modem and the computer and you can begin using your Internet browser with the coaxial TV cable.
