Changing out your 1995 Civic's radio should be no problem.

The 1995 Honda Civic, like the larger Accord of the same year, came standard with an AM/ FM/cassette stereo. Also offered for the Civic was an optional factory-installed CD player. After1995, the Honda Civic has been offered with a variety of stereo systems; including CD players, satellite radio receivers, and multimedia navigation units. Installation of an aftermarket radio in the 1995 Honda Civic is a simple procedure for even an inexperienced car audio technician.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift the hood of the 1995 Honda Civic and disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative lead post of the battery, loosening the cable clamp retainer bolt with a 10mm wrench and twisting the clamp off the post. Secure the clamp so that it can't inadvertently come into contact with the battery posts.

    • 2

Remove the lower dashboard panel beneath the stereo by removing the three screws-- two above the ashtray and cigarette lighter and one on the side of the lower panel next to the driver's foot well. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver for all dashboard panel screws.

    • 3

Pull the lower dash panel from the dashboard.

    • 4

Remove the two screws on the upper edge of the lower dash panel opening with a Philips-head screwdriver. Removal of the two screws will allow you to pull the stereo from the dashboard.

    • 5

Pull the factory stereo from the dashboard far enough to reach the stereo wiring connected to the back of the unit. Pull the speaker wires and antenna cable from the back of the stock radio.

    • 6

Slide the aftermarket stereo's mounting sleeve into the opening left by the removed factory stereo. Pull the stereo wiring through to the front of the sleeve.

    • 7

Connect the Honda Civic stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to the back of the aftermarket stereo at the appropriate connectors.

    • 8

Slide the aftermarket stereo into the opening provided by the mounting sleeve.

    • 9

Screw in the two screws on the upper edge of the lower dash panel opening with a Philips-head screwdriver.

    • 10

Place the lower dash panel beneath the stereo and replace the three screws that hold it in place. Screw in the two screws at the top of the panel, and the one screw at the bottom left corner of the dash panel.

    • 11

Place the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative lead post of the battery and tighten the clamp to the post with the 10mm wrench.
