How to Decorate Chipboard Boxes
Chipboard boxes can be decorated to cover their plain brown finish. Chipboard is usually made from recycled material, which makes it an eco-friendly craft material. Decorate chipboard boxes for your next craft project to create gift boxes, trinket boxes or a decorative container for spare change. Add special touches like beads, artificial flowers or even photos to personalize the boxes with your own unique style.
Things You'll Need

1
Use a small paint brush and craft paints to paint the box and allow the paint to dry according to the instructions.
-
2
Use a decoupage medium to add photos, newspaper clippings or illustrations onto your box. Apply the decoupage medium onto the box according to the instruction and place your item on the area covered by the medium. Apply more decoupage medium over it. Consider using this process to add a photo to the center of the box lid, and leave a space around the edge for other decorative items to serve as a frame.

3
Apply a layer of clear-drying craft glue onto the top of the lid to glue decorative items on the box top. If you have decoupaged a photo or another paper item to the area, do not apply glue on top of it, rather apply it around the photo or newspaper. Choose items such as seashells, sequins, beads, glitter or macaroni that will fit on your box without appearing too cumbersome. Use small trinkets or memorabilia such as necklace pendants or artificial flower blooms.

4
Decorate the sides around the bottom half of the box the same way. Apply hot glue and decorate it with your chosen items. Do not glue items too closely to the top, where they would interfere with the lid closing on top.
