How Do I Apply to Become a Model?
While it can be relatively easy to apply to become a model, actually getting modeling jobs is a lot harder. The modeling world is quite competitive and you typically need to be tall and slender. Still, just being pretty or handsome is not enough. You also need to be able to take directions well, photograph well and have the exact look that companies want. Each modeling agency will have a separate application process, so be sure to follow it carefully.

1
Purchase professional photos. You need to impress both the modeling agency and their clients--professional photos will go a long way towards doing so, as opposed to snapshots that your friends take. A professional photographer will know how to shoot the picture to make you look your best. Take several poses--a full-body shot, a waist-up shot, a shoulder-up shot and a head shot. Many agencies will ask for one of each of these.

2
Look for model agencies in your area. If you live in a major city, you're in luck because most agencies are located in cities. If you're in the country, look in the nearest city. If possible, find reviews of the agencies to help you decide which is the best one.
-
-
3
Fill out the agency's application form. This includes general information about you, such as contact information and modeling experience.
-
4
Take your measurements with a tape measure. The modeling applications will specify which measurements you need to take, but typically, you'll need to list your height, chest, waist, hips and inseam.
-
5
Include information about your additional talents. List activities that you can do well that might help you to get modeling jobs. For example, if you can play piano, do ballet en pointe or play tennis, you may be the right model for a company that wants to include those activities in the photo shoot.
-
6
Attach your photos to the application. If you're filling out the application on line, you can upload the photos. If you're filling out a paper application, you'll need to attach professional quality photos.
-
7
Submit everything to the agency. Once you've completed the application, send it to the modeling agency. It may take several weeks to review your application, so don't expect an immediate response.
