How to Convert Hard Drives to NTFS From FAT32

      Back up all your files on an external DVD or hard disk before you start.

      Go to Start menu. Choose "Run" from menu list and type "cmd". Press "Enter". The cmd folder will open.

      Type name of the drive you wish to convert to NTFS (in this example it's, the c:\ Drive). Type "Vol C:" in the cmd black screen folder.

      A name and serial number will be displayed on the screen. Write it down for future use.

      Type "convert C:/f:ntfs".

      The conversion will start at the same time or you will be asked to schedule it at restart. Make your choice by pressing "Y" for Yes and "N" for No.

      You will be asked to input the label name. Input the name that you wrote down in Step 4.

      The process of conversion will start. Close the folder. You have successfully changed your drive's file system.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful while using cmd commands. If you create an empty space in the command at any point, the command line won't execute.

  • Back up your data before you start.
