1
Decide the most appropriate location for installing solar energy system. Many people install solar panels on their roofs. The objective is to find a spot that receives maximum sunlight. Make sure there aren't any obstructions blocking sunlight from reaching the solar panels.
-
2
Use the stud finder to locate roof rafters. Stud finder is a magnetic object that allows you to spot metallic rafters beneath the roof. Securing the panel mount to the rafters keeps it intact even during unfavorable weather conditions.

3
Pre-drill holes in the roof rafters using an electric drill. You must drill carefully as faulty drilling may cause the rafters to split.
-
4
Use roofing nails or screws to secure solar mount to the rafters.
-
5
Attach the solar panels to the mount using steel bolts. Make sure there is sufficient distance (minimum two to four inches) between solar panels and the surface of the roof.
-
6
Run a conduit from the solar panels to the inverter in your home. Hire an electrician for the task if you're not qualified in this field.
