How to Convert My CDs to MP3 Format for My Car thumbnail
An MP3 player can hold an entire library of songs, and be used for audio playback in cars.

MP3 files can be used to carry a large quantity of music in your car. The most convenient option is to store your MP3s on an iPod or other portable music player, and connect it to your car speakers with a radio transmitter. Alternately, if your car stereo can play MP3 files from a burned disc, you can store much more music on a single CD in MP3 format. First, you'll need to "rip" your commercial CDs to MP3 format.

Instructions

  1. Windows Media Player

    • 1

      Launch Windows Media Player.

    • 2

On the Tools menu, click Options, then click the "Rip Music" tab. Select "Rip CD when inserted".

    • 3

Click the "Rip settings" tab, and select "mp3" in the Format list. Click "OK".

    • 4

Insert your first music CD into the drive. When ripping is complete, eject the disk and repeat this step for each of your CDs.

    iTunes

      Launch iTunes.

    • 6
