How to Perform Powerslide Turbo Boosts in Mario Kart DS

Mission 8 of the second level of "Mario Kart DS" requires the player to six powerslide turbo boosts in three laps. A powerslide turbo boost is basically doing a drift (sharp, sliding turn) that will give you a short burst of speed. Though the mission may be difficult at first, mastering the powerslide turbo boost will help you get through it, and the powerslide can be helpful in any other races. It will give you a little bit of an edge that may push you into first place.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the “R” button to start drifting. The “R” button is the right shoulder button at the top of the DS.

2. Press and hold “Left” or “Right” on the directional pad, depending on the direction you want to go. This creates a sharp turn.

3. Release the “R” button when you see sparks form under your kart. You will get a small boost.
