How to Make a Sachet to Protect Clothes
With frequent washing and the advent of modern fabrics like polyester and rayon blends, the idea of protecting clothes is something we do not always consider. However, if you own an expensive wool coat, or a have favorite wool sweater, a sachet filled with natural repellents and sweet-smelling herbs is still necessary. The essential oil, lavandin, added to the herbal repellents in this sachet is a natural bio-repellent that is lethal to moths, according to Colorado State University's Entymology Professor, Whitney Cranshaw. Things You'll Need
- Old pantyhose
- 8 oz. whole cloves
- 1 oz. cedar chips
- 1 oz. dried thyme
- 1 oz. dried ginseng
- 2 oz. dried mint
- 2 oz. dried rosemary
- 2 oz. dried lavender
- Lavandin oil
- Small bowl
- Spoon
- Kitchen funnel
Instructions

Cut the toe ends off a clean, used pair of pantyhose, and set aside.

Add the whole cloves, cedar chips and dried thyme, mint, rosemary, lavender and ginseng to a small bowl, then add three or four drops of lavandin oil; mix well with a spoon.

Place one of the toe ends from the pantyhose over the bottom end of a small funnel, then pour half of the herb and spice mixture through the funnel to fill the pantyhose; repeat the filling process with the other pantyhose end.

Tie off the open ends of the filled pantyhose with a knot and place the sachets into one or two drawers of wool garments to repel moths.

Tips & Warnings
You can also place the moth repelling sachets into the pocket of a wool coat hanging in a closet.
Keep these sachets and the repellent mixture away from children and pets as a safety precaution.
