If you have an RV that you are selling on your own you will need a bill of sale. The bill of sale serves as a legal document that shows transfer of ownership. It is also used by county clerks to assess any sales tax that may be due from the buyer on the purchase. Anyone can create a bill of sale as long as the same basic information is included. It can even be handwritten if you do not have access to a computer.

Step 1

Open a new document in a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word or Open Office. If you do not have a computer you can just use a clean sheet of paper.

Step 2

Enter “RV Bill of Sale” at the top of the document. Underneath that, enter in the date on the right or left side of the page. This should be the date of the sale, so if you are making up your bill of sale in advance just leave a space for the date to be entered in.

Step 3

Include information about the RV. List a description of the RV, the VIN and that the RV is being sold “As Is.”

Step 4

List the purchase price that you agreed upon with the buyer. If you are accepting a down payment and then other payments be sure to list those details in this section.

Step 5

Put in the contact details for both the buyer and the seller. Include a place at the bottom for the buyer and seller to sign and date the document.

Step 6

Make two copies of the bill of sale so that both the buyer and the seller get a copy of the transaction.
