1
Fill a large jar with small toy race cars and set it in the middle of the table. Not only does it serve as a decoration, but it also makes a fun game for the guests. Ask the kids to guess how many cars are in the jar. The winner is the child who guesses correctly or comes closest to the actual number.

Decorate the tables with wrapping paper and tape. Most discount and party stores sell generic black and white checkered wrapping paper, also known as checkered flag wrapping paper. Cover the tables with the paper and secure underneath with clear tape.

Create your own race track on a wall in the house. Cut lengths of brown packing paper and tape onto one area of the wall. Draw a large race track on the paper, using markers or colored pencils. Draw your own cars on the track or add a few toy cars by taping the cars directly to the wall.

Use empty motor oil boxes and cans as decorations around the table or party area. Ask auto parts stores and car dealerships for some of their empty boxes. Check yard sales and flea markets for used oil cans.

5
Buy NASCAR and other racing magazines and cut out pictures of drivers, tracks and other racing items. Decorate the walls and tables with the pictures and put one driver on the back of each chair. Everyone who comes to the party gets to be a different driver and you can let the kids pick which chair they want.

Tips & Warnings
If you are on a budget, look for black cups or plates and alternate those with white cups and plates. It keeps with the race car theme, without costing as much as the NASCAR or "Cars" themed party items.
