A new car radio or stereo can be installed in many types of vehicles, including a 2000 Ford F150. In order to install a new car radio or stereo, in the vehicle, you will need to first remove the old one. This can be done by accessing the interior of the dash where the radio or stereo has been installed. Once you remove the radio or stereo you can then install a new stereo or CD player in the vehicle.

      Remove the trim panel that is snapped into the front of the dash that is covering the radio. Grab the edges of the trim panel with your hands. Gently pull the trim panel away from the dash.

      Locate the four holes that are used for the DIN tool. Two holes are located on the left and of the radio and two are located on the right.

      Insert the DIN tool into the holes. Push the ends of the tool outward to close the connector pins.

      Pull the radio out of the dash. Look on the back of the radio to locate the radio's wiring harness.

      Unplug the wiring harness from the radio. Set the old radio aside to complete the removal of the radio from your 2000 Ford F150.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up on the trim panel to separate it from the dash.

  • The connector pins on the radio are used to secure it in the dash.

  • If you force the trim panel off you can damage the clips that are used to secure it to the dash.
