How to Troubleshoot a Griffin iTrip Auto FM Sound Transmitter
The Griffin iTrip Auto FM Sound Transmitter is a device that is designed to allow you to listen to the music that is being played by your iPod or other compatible personal audio device over the stereo speakers in your car. Due to the specific way the iTrip operates (by transmitting your songs in the form of an audio signal), there are a number of ways that you could lose signal quality. Luckily, you can troubleshoot these issues just as easily.

1
Switch the station that your iTrip is broadcasting to. For the best audio quality, you'll want to scan your car stereo's FM dial and find a station that is completely empty of any type of programming. If your iTrip has to fight with a local radio station for control of a station, the iTrip will always be overpowered and lose out. This will result in static-filled sound quality, if the iTrip is able to broadcast at all.

2
Physically move your iTrip closer to the car stereo antenna. Typically, the antenna is found on the exterior of your car, so move the iTrip (and accompanying portable media device) as close to this antenna as you can get it. The shorter the distance the audio signal being broadcast by the iTrip has to travel, the higher quality the sound will be.

Make sure your Griffin iTrip is properly connected to the power adapter in your car. Your iTrip will need all available power in order to operate properly. The less power it has, the less amount of distance it will be able to broadcast the audio signal from your portable media device. This will result in low-quality sound coming from your car stereo speakers.
